Twenty-Ten

Here we are in not just another year- but another decade. The past ten years have admittedly gone by in a blur but there have been so many milestones:
I graduated high school. I got accepted to, survived, and graduated from college. I studied in Milan, Italy where I made some great friends. I traveled back to Italy five years after leaving and still loved every part of it. I moved to NYC, loved my first job, hated it, and found a better one. I gained who knows how much weight after moving. I joined Weight Watchers, made some of my best friends in NYC, and lost 30lbs. My heart was broken a few times but I always recovered, even when I thought I wouldn't. I ran 5k's, I ran a 4 mile race and finished in 40 minutes 19seconds, 5 minutes under my goal time. I started writing this blog, stopped, started, paused, and now am starting again.
2010 may just be another decade turning, another year beginning, just as each year does. I'm going to make goals-not resolutions-and stick to them (I hope). So here goes:
1. Be healthy. Yes, I still have 20-30lbs I would like to lose. But right now, it's not just about losing weight. I need to retrain myself to look at food in a different way. In a healthy way. It's not about GOOD or BAD food. It's about food I need to fuel my body and food I want, food I can indulge in, just because I can. And it's about balance- balancing work, workouts, and healthy meals. Drinking less and in moderation.
2. Pay down debt. I have yet to figure out a number, but I'd like it to be half of my current credit card debt. Student loans not included because well, those will take a while.
3. Write more. Clearly, I've been a slacker.
4. Figure out what I want to go back to school for, apply, and do it.
I will find out on Tuesday if I have been chosen in the lottery to run in the NYC Half Marathon on March 21st. If I am chosen, training begins on Tuesday with this plan, starting at week 2. The most I've run for a race is 4 miles, so it is going to be challenging. But it will help me get into a healthy mindset and give a goal to work towards. If I don't get chosen, I will probably still work the training plan.
Oh, and 5. Fall in love. Or at least date. Or go on a date. (baby steps.)
